En Plein Air in Hilo, Hawai'i
Hilo has a vibrant art community. An informal group of plein air artists gathers every week on Thursday at changing locations on the east side of the Big Island. Painters of all levels working in any medium are warmly welcomed. There's no fee, no instruction, no structure. Bring your own supplies, set up, paint and enjoy the camaraderie of hanging out with fellow artists.
We often visit Hilo's beautiful beach parks; sometimes we venture down to Kalapana, or the Puna cliffs, or the Saddle Road, or Onomea Bay, or Waipi'o Valley. East side of the Big Island is a fabulous place to be a painter! Some painters come early, some come late, some stay all day. The location schedule can be found on facebook (search Hilo Plein Aire Painters). Please join the group on any Thursday of the month to get acquainted. It's always a good time.
